Who we are
Van Tassel Workshop presents a collection of premium vintage and vintage-inspired goods for the home
that celebrates early and mid-century American and European craftsmanship.
Our workshop is named in honor of my grandparents, Augustine and Minnie May Van Tassel, Dutch immigrants
who made a home for themselves within the farmlands of Upstate New York at the turn of the 20th Century. After
being widowed at a young age and with four children to raise, my grandmother supported herself by selling eggs
and became known as Minnie May the Egg Lady. Her daily deliveries, including a prestigious stop at the Mayor’s
mansion, led to a passion for the decorative objects that were prominently displayed in her customer’s homes.
Van Tassel Workshop merchandise includes an eclectic mix of collectible pottery, glass, and serve ware — from
manufacturers such as Hall, McCoy, Phoenix & Consolidated art glass, and Roseville among others. We also feature
an extensive collection of vintage books and art as well as limited edition items, inspired or repurposed from vintage
finds, produced in our workshop. We are highly selective and strive to provide a vintage shopping experience that
emphasizes product presentation to highlight the unique character of each item and to incite the same wonder and
desire in our customers that Minne May experienced in her day.
